2022 Color Run - Old Feed Store Art Center

The Range Cafe & Lodge

The Range Cafe is a landmark in its own right, with many visitors having fond memories of dining here in the past. New and past diners will step into the Range Cafe and find little has changed since the 1950’s. The large cattle drive photo that has hung over the diner’s counter since opening day still impresses guests and locals alike. Even though we have a fondness of the past, we try to look forward with the menu, introducing new and delicious selections- ranging from a traditional hot beef to a Pesto chicken sandwich. Be sure to check out our menu link to take a peek at what tasty “vittles” await you.

Allen’s Pizza Place

Serves many kinds of pizzas, Sub Sandwiches, and Daily Specials. Variety of salads of your choice to enjoy in a homey atmosphere.

The Corral Bar

This Bar & Grill establishment has daily specials that are updated on FB, as well as a menu to choose from. Hours of operation may change depending on season, so please call ahead to double check.

The Rock County Historical Museum

Located in the Fairgrounds, The Chicago & North Western Railroad Depot was built in 1921-22. It was moved from its former location on the north end of the main street in Bassett and is now home to countless artifacts and antiques having to do with the culture and traditions of Bassett and Rock County, Nebraska.

Also pictured and located on the fairgrounds and full of history is:

  • A log cabin that was the first building in Rock County Historical Society Museum complex. It was built as a WPA project in 1938

  • A church that was originally built in 1898 for $2,400. It served Atkinson, NE as St. Boniface until 1911. It was then sold to Newport, NE for $510. Later, the church with a new steeple was rededicated as St. Michael's in honor of Floyd Lackaff's brother, a drowning victim while at school in Spaulding, Nebraska. When the church closed in 1978, it was donated to the Rock County Historical Society and was moved to the complex on the fairgrounds. Presently it is used by all denominations for services, quilt shows, and other celebrations.

Another public highlight that is fueled by volunteers and donations, they appreciate any and all donations!
